2014节礼日快乐! (Happy Boxing Day 2014)


节礼日(Boxing Day)是英国与大多英联邦国家在12月26日(圣诞节翌日)庆祝的公众假期。

基本上,雇员们必须在圣诞日当天为雇主服务而无法和家人庆圣诞。第二天,雇主就把剩余的食物装箱,让雇员带回家和家人共享。从此,食物装箱的传统即成“节礼日”。

安迪既没有雇员,也不会奢侈周章,所以没有资格过节礼日。
但是就随大队,沾沾过节的喜悦也不是坏事。
就如有人不是基督徒,也喜欢庆圣诞般。

倒是想乘还有一点的圣诞余温,分享一些喜悦。。。。。。。。。。

While trying to make a Black Forest Cake the other day, I accidentally opened the wrong can again. Of course I can't waste the cherries inside, right? So I had a change of plans an made this Cherry Cheesecake instead!

 看到很多姐妹成功分享这充满浓浓和风味的长崎蛋糕。
心理既羡慕又蠢蠢欲动,
但家里没有木模子,也担心无法驾驭这有一定难度的蛋糕,
所以论“欲试名单”,它其实是排在面包和马卡龙的后面的。
After seeing so many fellow bloggers share this Japanese Castella Cake successfully, I really wanted to join in the fun too. However, I didn't have the mould, and I wasn't too sure that I could manage to bake it, so it is actually after bread and macaroons on my to-do list.

It's the 3rd of December, and I have another promise to keep. What promise? XuanHom mama's "Hokkaido Cupcake date", that's what!


那天做了抹茶面包,很喜欢他的香气。
于是灵机一线,来个北海道抹茶红豆杯子蛋糕。
I really like the aroma of the Matcha Bread I baked the other day, so I decided to use the same flavor and baked this Hokkaido Matcha Cupcake.

日式绿茶炼奶面包 (Japanese Green Tea Condensed Milk Bread)


 看到Sonia家的高挑日式炼奶面包,喜欢;
看到Cecelia家的绿茶口味炼奶面包,好奇。
前几天一位好姐妹,给我送来这高挑戚风模子,
于是水到沟成的完成了这别具一色的面包。
I really like Sonia's Japanese Condensed Milk Bread, while Cecelia's Green Tea Condensed Milk Bread got my curiosity aroused. Coincedentally, one of my sisters gifted me a tall chiffon mould some days back. Put these three together, and voila! A Japanese Green Tea Condensed Milk Bread is born!

近日机缘之下,约了一位志同道合的博友,一起上课去。
这个脆薄巧克力甘那许蛋糕就是当天上课的其中一款蛋糕。
I was never good with decorations of cake involving cream and other spatula waving types. But since the chance to attend class with a fellow blogger came up, I decided to give it a go. This Ganached Chocolate Fudge Cake was one of my tasks for the class.

巧克力加班兰,然后混合成糊。
1模子拌匀面糊,2种色味,3层口感,

Hehe, I was feeling bold today, so I decided to have fun with campur(mixing); chocolate + pandan. 1 batter, 2 flavors, 3 textures, magic skills upgrade!

This is a bread that, together with the Magic Custard Cake, was all the rage on Facebook awhile back. Now, it has finally made it to my kitchen(just like the Magic Custard Cake, too)!

9 November is my goddaughter, Mell's birthday. Knowing that she loves Tiramisu cake, I once again "collaborated" with NaNak to make this beautiful French-style Tiramisu Mille Crepes.

金瓜公主糕(Puteri Ayu Labu)


昨天家里烧烤会时,其中一款糕点。
喜欢它金黄的颜色,加上雪白的椰丝,
小小一个,非常讨喜。
This kueh was one of the desserts for yesterday's barbecue party. I really like its golden color that goes so well with the snow white of the shredded coconut. It's also small and cute!

打从月头的南瓜蜜月在响起跑笛时,就想要做的南瓜胡桃派。
可是被一些食谱插队,结果就拖了下来。
今天总算让它漂亮登场。
I've wanted to bake this Pumpkin Pie right at the start of this Pumpkin Month, but since other pumpkin recipes were already on the list, I had to postpone baking it until now. Finally, this Pumpkin Pecan Pie has made an appearance on this blog!

乡村面包(Rustic Bread)


 从年初开始做面包以来,一直没有做过欧式面包。
因为担心吃惯松软带甜面包的家人,
不能接受外表有些粗糙,吃起来比较有嚼劲的欧式包。
 Ever since I started baking bread, I've never given European bread a try, mainly because I worried that my family, too used to the soft, sweet bread I often bread, would not like the coarse, chewy European bread.

南瓜乳酪面包(Pumpkin Cheese Bun)


 这是赶在娜娜进营之前,做出来的面包。
有营养丰富的南瓜,又有他喜爱的乳酪
更可以顺便再支持“小拇指 ”
呵。。。。。呵。。。。何乐而不为呢?
Managed to bake this bread before NaNak entered camp. Filled with the nutrients of the pumpkin and the deliciousness of her favorite cheese, while also eligible for "LTU" event, this bun is indeed one that pleases all!

迷你金瓜红龟糕(Mini Pumpkin Ang Ku Kueh)


 红龟糕在安家是一款受欢迎的娘惹糕。
之前分别尝试过 班兰红龟糕番薯豆蓉红龟糕
今天开心赴小拇指之金瓜之约,
安迪随缘模出这款久违的红龟糕。
Ang Ku Kueh is pretty well-received at home, so I've tried out two flavors: Pandan Ang Ku Kueh and Sweet Potato Ang Ku Kueh. Since this month is "Pumpkin Month" and I have loads of pumpkin at home, I decided to make a batch of Pumpkin Ang Ku Kueh.

港式猪肠粉(Hong Kong style Rice Flour Rolls)


这是每回上点心楼吃点心时必点的选择之一,
一般有虾仁和叉烧内馅。
对安家三口来说,还是对虾仁情有独钟。
Hong Kong Style Rice Flour Rolls -- a must every time one visits a dim sum restaurant. The rice rolls are usually served with prawn or roasted pork fillings. My family prefers the prawn rice rolls.

 这款很亲民的叉烧包,终于在安家的蒸笼出现了。
虽然捏纹还是欠缺自然,但是内涵还是美味可口的。
This rather well known pau has finally arrived at my house! Its swirls may still lack a natural feel, but the fillings certainly aren't lacking in any way.

因为南瓜蜜月的狂风来势汹汹,刮到安迪兴致勃勃,
才清理最后的南瓜泥,又忍不住再抬回2粒南瓜,
哈。。。。。哈。。。。。
人家喜欢热闹嘛,没办法!


With everyone so hyped up about the current "Pumpkin Month", I couldn't help but get caught up in the excitement. Sure, I've just finished off my pumpkin paste, but I really could not resist the temptation of picking up another 2 pumpkins at the store. Hehe, can't blame me for wanting to join in the fun!

三丝炒冬粉 (Fried Glass Noodle with Julienned Vegetables)



轻松又自在的星期六,
打开嫂嫂从泰国带来的冬粉泡一泡水,
从冰箱拿出虾仁和鸡肉块退一退冰,
斩板上,随性的把配菜切切丝,
然后,开锅,翻炒,。。。。。。。。。。
又是一餐营养均称的美味午餐。
On this beautiful and relaxing Saturday, I took out the packet of glass noodle my sister-in-law got me from Thailand, some prawns and chicken from the freezer. Soon, the kitchen fills with the sound of knife chopping up vegetables and the sizzling of the noodle in the wok......mmm, another delicious lunch is served!

 又是南瓜料理?
将就一下嘛,安迪赶在那盒南瓜糊变质之前,
一呵做气把南瓜戚风南瓜包,南瓜喜粄和南瓜吐司,
一一变出来。
"What? Another pumpkin recipe?"
Hehe, please bear with me for now! I'm trying to use up the pumpkins before they spoil, hence the whole barrage of pumpkin food. Pumpkin Chiffon, Pumpkin Pau, Pumpkin Hee Ban......what else have I missed out? Ah, yes of course, Pumpkin Toast!

 继续捏包练习,为了支持这个月的“小拇指”和“最佳食谱”活动,
特别做了金瓜包,以符合“金瓜”和“包”的主题。
Continuing my pau pleating practice! Since the theme for this month's Little Thumbs Up("LTU") and Best Recipes for Everyone("BREE") are "pumpkin" and "steamed buns" respectively, I decided to combine both and make Pumpkin Paus.

叉烧饭(Barbecue Pork Rice )



昨天,从猪肉档,抬回三条猪肉。
全都让我给腌上叉烧酱,然后今天烤成油腊腊的叉烧
准备兑现给娜娜许下的承诺:
 自家叉烧饭,手工捏叉烧包和港式蒸叉烧猪肠粉。
Yesterday, I brought three pieces of pork from the butchers and marinated them to make the delicious barbecue pork. Having promised NaNak to prepare a homemade Barbecue Pork Rice before, I decided to do just that and fulfill the promise.

香芋包 Taro Pau


最近安迪在研究捏包子,只要做好的包子被吃光了,
马上又搓面团,继续我的捏包子练习。
希望勤能补拙,早点可以捏出美美的包子:) 
As you may have noticed, I've been making alot of paus recently. The moment all the paus at home has been finished, I'll start kneading the dough so I can practice again and again. After all, they say practice makes perfect, and I really want to master the art of pau-pleating.

沙葛虾米包(Yambean Dried Shimp Pau)


一直以来,都很想跟大家分享这个好吃的沙葛虾米包。
无奈捏包的功夫实在太滥了,不好意思献丑。
今天的表现虽然还有待进步,至少娜娜看得出是包的样子,
所以就贴上来做个记录。
I've always wanted to share this delicious Yambean Dried Shrimp Pau recipe. Sadly, my pau pleating skills were very lacking, so I had to wait till I improved before posting this. It still isn't very good, but at least NaNak recognizes them as paus!

巧克力小餐包(Small Chocolate Bun)


 想念面包了。。。。。。
问问面包师傅,他推荐了Carol老师的巧克力小餐包。
虽说是直接法,可是出来面包体,松软弹牙,
浓郁的巧克力内馅和烤香金瓜籽,
蛮好吃的小餐包。
It's been a long time since I made bread. Also, “38隐形人” suggested I give Teacher Carol's Small Chocolate Bun a go, so I thought, why not? It may have been made using the straight-dough method, yet the bread still has a soft texture made even more tastier with the rich chocolaty taste and crunchy pumpkin seeds.
