传统鸡蛋糕 (Kuih Bahulu)

虽然已经过了整2个星期,
礼貌上安迪还是得说声 :新年快乐
顺利2014!

农历新年的脚步越来越近,
不知这带有“古早味”的传统鸡蛋糕,
可有牵起你一丝童年的回忆?
With Chinese New Year just around the corner, doesn't this Kuih Bahulu bring along a feeling of nostalgia?


对安迪来说,这传统鸡蛋糕,有着小时后的情意结。
当时妈妈用木棍打蛋器,碳炉,草扇,香支。。等,
最基本的厨具来烘焙这蛋糕的点点滴滴,还历历在目。
For me, these Kuih Bahulu's send me on a walk down memory lane, back to a time when wooden ladles and charcoal were still used in the kitchen.

原食谱: 《最想吃的。。。街坊美食》

材料:。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。Ingredients
鸡蛋 4个................................................ 4 eggs
细砂糖 150克.........................................150g castor sugar
面粉 150克..............................................150g flour
发粉 1小匙..............................................1 tsp baking powder

少许的油(搽模子).................................some cooking oil (for mould greasing)

做法:...................Method:
1)鸡蛋+糖打至松发。勾起时能出现纹路。

1. Beat the eggs and sugar till fluffy.

2)慢慢加入粉类搅拌均匀即可。

2. Add in flour and baking powder gradually and mix well.

3)预热kuih bahulu模型,涂上少许的油,将面糊放入挤花袋,
      把面糊按入模子里8分满。
3. Preheat kuih bahulu mould and grease it.  Spoon the mixture into kuih bahulu mould until 3/4 full.

4)以200度烘烤10分钟至金黄色,即可取出。
4. Bake  in a preheated oven at 200°C for 10 minutes.

5)用牙签挑出烤好的鸡蛋糕即可。

5. Use the toothpick to pick out the baked kuih bahulu . 


犹记得当年,放学时刻,
刚踏入家门,阵阵的鸡蛋糕香飘满屋,
闻到鸡蛋糕香,就意味着新年近了。
I would come back from school to the smell of Kuih Bahulu wafting through the front door, and I would know Chinese New Year is near.


晚间时刻,看着妈妈把辛苦烘好的蛋糕,
放进竹篮,然后高高的挂起来,
说是怕老鼠来光顾。 
多惜福!
At night, after a hard day's of work, my mother would hang the Kuih Bahulu's in a basket to prevent the mice from feasting on them instead of us.

  1. Hallo hallo! Been a long time! Happy new year ha! Yes indeed these little bites bring us down memory lanes... Back in Singapore, I remember mum keeping these in the red lid plastic containers but I will still devour them by the lot secretly... Definitely a recipe keeper!

  2. Yes I remember my mum would store these in a rattan basket hanging from the ceiling. Up to now I still don't understand why stored in a basket and not in an air tight container. You kuih bahulu look very lovely.

      I think may be store in a rattan basket will prevent the kuih outer layer be come soggy .

  4. Nice Kuih Bulu. I am still thinking whether I want to bake this. I still remember during my childhool time, my mum used to make this the traditional way by putting the charcoal on top of the cover.

    鸡蛋糕,我喜欢,做了好多呀~给我一个呗~~~哈哈哈。。。

    我买了一只大的菜园鸡冻在冰箱里,如果有聚餐的话,我让我老公带去给你们,您煮来给大家吃吧。
    肉质鲜美,有嚼劲,尽量发挥你的好厨艺吧,美女,哈哈哈。。。

  17. kuih bahulu is such a popular cake during cny and yours look fluffy in the picture. btw, we are not accepting kuih bahulu as 'cookies' for our bake along theme, but will accept other fried snacks like ngaku peang, peanut puffs, pork floss rolls, seaweed crisps..so sorry that we will hv to delete the link.
